I think the theory behind it is that in order for your body to warm up to 98.6 degrees, you have to burn some calories if you are in a cold room, cold water, or have ice applied. I doubt it does much. However, if you have the choice to swim in a heated pool versus a non-heated one, you will burn a few extra calories keeping your body temp up.
this could be bad if you don't do it correctly because the freezing temp could harm the skin (like cold burns.) there's a time limit that's different for everyone and you have to put a something in-between you and the cold temperature. also, they do have cold-sculpting which a lot of people have been trying out, too. (the cosmetic procedure.)
I actually did this for a while and I noticed results.. I would put a big ice pack on my stomach (i used a towel in between) for 15-30 min and then would take it off for 10 and then back on over the corse of an hour.. I definitely noticed my lower belly area firmed up. It is not a replacement for eating properly and exercising but when I added it to my routine I saw a difference.
Sort of cause study says that when your body drops temperature the hearts keep pounding which cause of rapid flowing of blood which also the same thing when you workout or sprint.. the difference is that you dont sweat and body fat discharge by cause of urine and fart not by sweat..
Cold make you burn a few calories more and will maybe give you a few brown fat cells more and white fat cells less. However it is not going to make you lean. Probably you will have also more appetite for high dense calorie foods. In 2012 the obesity in the inuit population is about 25% (more if you see waist circumference. The obesity in Italy (Mediterranean country) was below 10%. Just some cold will not fix your weight.
Their is actually a diet called the cold diet eaverything you eat has to be cold all day you have to keep from shivering to allow your body to burn fat to warm itself then in the eavning have a regular dinner before bed drink Ice water... Now that's a tough diet
Yep I go swimming in the winter to speed up the process. 20 minutes of ice cold swimming burns thousands of calories just remember to bring dry clothes.
Are research in Florida found that with 45 min of exercise the difference in calories burned in warm and cold water was just 12 calories. Only 12 more for 45 minutes of exercise! Oh and btw, appetite after cold water exercise was increased by 41% . So you suffer cold to burn basically nothing more and getting crazy with appetite afterwards. That’s really not worth it. I’ll stick with warmer water.
